Gardening Knows No Bounds

Bookmark and Share Submitted on the 22nd of April, 2011
Gardening is for all and knows no bounds in terms of age, race or creed as the earliest forms of gardening came from people who needed to grow herbs and vegetable plants for food and the Samurai and Zen Monks added decorative gardens in Japan to practice their skills in flower arrangement.

Egyptians associated gardens with the Gods, while the Romans loved beautiful colour in masses and planted their gardens with a variety of plants which are still favourites today such as lavender plants, lilies, hyacinth and crocus to name but a few.

Far removed from the large gardens of Roman times today’s gardens can be anything from a tiny plot, to a roof garden or a balcony, a window box or a patio, but which can still portray beauty. As the artist Vincent Van Gogh once said “if you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere”

When you consider why people take up gardening, all kinds of reasons spring to mind, it is wonderful to create something beautiful and the sense of achievement and satisfaction is second to none and creating new life from something as simple as a packet of garden seeds is a potent feeling.

The Spring is well and truly here and when the sun shines it makes us all feel differently about everything, it gives us a spring in our step, (excuse the pun) a sense of doing something special with our sad looking gardens after the harsh winter snow, frosts, and rain. We feel that we want to breathe life back into our gardens and every year we tell ourselves the same thing ‘this year it is going to be different, full of colour and beauty’.

Well go on and do it, everyone has creativity, everyone loves, colour and beauty, and it does not matter what size of planting space you have as you can be creative and design yourself a display that will give you pleasure.

Many people have chosen to add container gardening to their living space and have seen what beauty can be achieved by using simple plug plants to give breathtaking displays on decking, patios, balconies, entrances and windows, with stunning flower displays, green leafy plants, also used as hanging basket plants.

A lot of keen gardeners living in apartments and townhouses, have taken gardening to a new dimension, using container plants to make their own space an eye catcher. Containers are portable and can be moved as the sun moves, there is also an added benefit that if you move to a new home; you can take your garden with you.

A spokesman for Blooming Direct working out of their nursery on the beautiful floral island of Jersey said “we are an online shopping facility and anyone who loves getting their hands dirty planting, digging and seeding should direct their green fingers to this site. Our reasonably priced stock is complemented by an informative community blog which is packed with advice, tips and comments from gardening experts, on all gardening topics” he went on to say, “we grow all our plants from seed in our own nursery, of course you will receive them in plug plant format, which will give your garden a ‘kick start’ with instant blooms and colour”.

Gardening knows no bounds, so get outside, spend time with friends, and give your body a spell of exercise; gardening is really hard to beat.
