CSC launches new integrated Eurocode functionality

Leading structural engineering software developer, CSC, has launched new Eurocode capability across all its structural design software to aid its customers in the transition from British Standard (BS) design codes.

Existing CSC clients will automatically receive these updates free as part of their maintenance agreements. In addition users will have access to CSC’s in-house development team including experts such as Chief Engineer, Alan Rathbone, who sits on a number of Eurocode committees.

Updates are available for CSC’s Tedds calculation software along with its steel and concrete building design software, Fastrak and Orion. These Eurocode-ready versions encompass a broad range of Eurocode designs addressing EC0, EC1, EC2, EC3, EC4, EC5, EC6, and EC7.

“It was vital we invested in-house to provide Eurocode ready software,” commented CSC’s Regional Director, Barry Chapman. “Now that the structural BS codes have been withdrawn there is an increased requirement to use Eurocodes to meet Building Regulations, and more and more of our clients are looking to us to help them transition to Eurocode design.

“In practice, using the new Eurocode version of CSC's software is very similar to using the old BS version. We have many clients who were dreading the transition to Eurocode but are now finding Eurocode design simple and easy using our software.”

The structural Eurocodes - which are set to become mandatory in due course - are intended to harmonise structural standards across the EU following the withdrawal of BS codes.

To further support structural engineers, CSC will be hosting a free webinar entitled ‘Eurocode design made easy’ on May 24th at 2pm BST. The webinar is designed to help engineers understand the transition from British Standards to Eurocode design, and will use a real time demonstration of CSC’s Tedds calculation software to demonstrate how the Eurocodes work.
